BUDDY SYSTEM
We have recently launched a ‘Buddy System’ in the LRI ED. This is across both adults and paediatrics, and the aim is to help you settle in a bit more in this big, busy department. It is a two-tiered system. There is a 2-minute video and poster (see below) explaining everything. Please take a look and get yourself familiar with what exactly it is... and what it is not!
All SHO’s are paired up with either a Registrar or Fellow. The idea is to meet up with your buddy roughly once a month, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you want to ask, share ideas and just have a chat about how things are going.
For our GPVTS trainees, you will have been allocated two buddies- one for adults and one for paeds, since you will likely be working across both departments.
For CT3 registrars, you are paired up with a HST buddy as well as SHO’s, giving you the opportunity to mentor juniors but also to use development time to help develop skills transitioning to ST4 and particularly useful if you are starting in Paeds but doing nights in Adults where you will be expected to lead.
